• planting, watering, fertilizing and weeding of flower beds
• upkeep of existing and landscaping of new green spaces

About green spaces in Rijeka

In the area of the city of Rijeka, UC Čistoća Ltd regularly prunes, pinches, digs around and fertilizes about 8,500 trees, while young trees are also watered in the summer months.

In the city of Rijeka, around 1,500,000 m² of grassland and vegetation are mowed 4 to 10 times a year, leaves are raked in autumn, and shrubs are pruned in spring or autumn. Approximately 9,000 m² of space is covered by hedges of various heights (some over 3 m tall), which are pruned, dug and fertilized several times a year. All newly-planted spaces are watered during summer months.

Plants in 200 decorative plant troughs are regularly maintained by digging, weeding, fertilizing and watering, and when necessary, plant replacement.

1,380 m² of flower beds in the area of the city of Rijeka planted with seasonal flowers require intensive upkeep year-round. Throughout the year, these flower beds are regularly weeded, fertilized and watered.

In addition, expert departments of UC Čistoća, in cooperation with the city departments, create the landscaping designs for the newly planned green spaces.

Every year during the summer season, hanging flower pots and planters are placed around the city. In the pedestrian zone of the city, 136 hanging flower pots are hung on 68 lamp posts every year. They require special attention when it comes to fertilizing, watering and weeding. Finally, 47 planters are placed on the railing around Tito Square above the Rječina River.
